Global Mercenaries: Starting from the Russia-Ukraine War

Chapter 65 Finding Fault

Chapter 65 Finding Fault

Giving away $20,000 worth of equipment was a huge financial blow for Borislav.

Lu Ye sighed and continued, "That still won't work. Captain Yuri not only gave me this equipment, but he also promised that for every operation I need afterward, I won't have to pay for any of the weapons, ammunition, or medical supplies myself."

"Impossible! I don't believe it!" Borislav blurted out, standing up as well.

"You always have to bear the cost of your own equipment. And it might be okay for an experienced sniper, but what right do you, a new recruit, have to be treated like this by Yuri?"

As soon as he finished speaking, Borislav saw a hint of mockery flash in Lu Ye's eyes.

"Are you fucking kidding me?" Borislav finally realized what was happening, and his face instantly turned bright red.

"No!" Lu Ye shrugged. "Since you can't do it, then I can't possibly agree to it."

Borislav was instantly enraged. He stood up abruptly, leaped over the table, grabbed Lu Ye by the collar, and raised his right fist high.

Just then, the sound of a shotgun being cocked rang out not far away.

The bartender behind the bar, holding a Remington 870, said, "Borislav, if you land this punch, you'll never set foot in a rusty shell again. Want to fight? Sure, go fight in the iron cage in the basement."

Borislav glared at Lu Ye through gritted teeth, his chest heaving violently, before finally releasing his grip.

He pointed at Lu Ye's nose: "Do you dare come with me to the basement?"

Lu Ye looked at him like he was an idiot, straightened his wrinkled collar, and retorted, "Do I look like an idiot to you? Why would I go to the basement to fight you?"

These words enraged Borislav again, but he suddenly forced himself to suppress his anger.

He gave Lu Ye a deep look, turned around without a word, and led the Grizzly Bear Squad back to their seats.

As Lu Ye watched Borislav's suddenly calmed-down back, a sense of vigilance rose in his heart.

He remembered Yuri's words and wanted to get up and leave immediately, but if he left now and missed the meeting, he might never have another chance to find out the truth.

Lu Ye took a deep breath and could only remain seated, continuing to wait.

-----------------

Vasily still hadn't appeared by the afternoon.

Lu Ye grabbed a quick lunch at a nearby restaurant and returned to the bar in the afternoon.

He had barely sat down when the Grizzly team approached again.

This time, Borislav pulled out the chair next to Lu Ye and sat down, while the other three members of the Grizzly Bear team stood behind and on either side of Lu Ye, forming a subtle encirclement.

Borislav, holding a glass of vodka, arrogantly sized up Lu Ye: "Kid, in the world of mercenaries, it's all about fists and marksmanship, not hiding in the background and spouting nonsense! If you're a man, come down to the basement and train!"

His voice was extremely loud, and many mercenaries who were drinking nearby turned their heads at the sound, all looking over with the intention of watching a spectacle.

Lu Ye frowned. He just wanted to wait for Vasily quietly and didn't want to pay any attention to this pointless provocation.

He shook his head and uttered two words: "I'm not going."

Borislav sighed helplessly and prepared to get up and leave.

The instant he stood up, he deliberately hooked his toe on the table leg, causing him to suddenly lose his balance.

"Splash!"

He poured the full glass of vodka in his hand precisely onto Lu Ye's chest.

Clang!

A heavy lump of iron rolled out of Lu Ye's pocket and landed on the glass tabletop.

The moment he saw what it was, Borislav jumped back, pointed at the object on the table, and yelled at the top of his lungs, "He brought in a grenade! He's going to blow this place up!"

That was an F-1 fragmentation grenade.

This shout caused the mercenaries, who had been watching the commotion, to change their expressions drastically and quickly move away from Lu Ye.

The bartender behind the bar reacted extremely quickly, instantly raising his shotgun and aiming it directly at Lu Ye's head.

Lu Ye's face turned ashen; he knew this was Borislav's doing.

He didn't want to cause trouble, but the other party only became more aggressive!

Lu Ye remained seated, his gaze fixed on Borislav, but he calmly told the bartender, "This grenade isn't mine. Security searched me when I came in."

"You can have the camp guards come over and take fingerprints from the grenade to see if mine are on them."

Upon hearing this, Borislav burst into laughter: "Ha! Fingerprints? Kid, do you think this is a Moscow police station?"

"Go tell the camp guards and see if they have the time or inclination to do your fingerprints."

After laughing, Borislav leaned forward and lowered his voice: "If you agree to fight me, I'll testify to the bartender that someone secretly slipped this into your pocket."

Lu Ye stared intently at Borislav's sinister and smug face, then suddenly laughed, "No problem! I promise you! With whom? With you?"

Because he received a notification from the system.

"What, you're scared now? I already agreed, why are you hesitating?" Lu Ye said, looking at Borislav who seemed a little doubtful.

"You're just a new recruit, why would I be afraid of you?" Borislav laughed as well.

"Of course not with me."

He turned to look at a burly man beside him, his face full of scars and his body like a brown bear. "Shatov, you're no match for him."

Lu Ye nodded indifferently, shrugged, and looked at the grenade on the table: "Then shouldn't you deal with this matter first?"

"Of course," Borislav said loudly to the bartender who was holding a gun.

"Hey buddy, put the gun down! This grenade definitely wasn't brought in by him. I saw it with my own eyes; someone else slipped it into his pocket as they walked by!"

The bartender looked at him coldly: "Just because you say it's someone else doesn't mean it is someone else."

Borislav frowned, then lied without batting an eye: "That guy ran out after stuffing the grenade in, I can't see him anymore. But I assure you with the reputation of The Undertaker, the grenade definitely wasn't his."

Upon hearing this, Lu Ye's understanding of the bottom line of these mercenaries was once again refreshed.

How could a person be so shameless?
