Chapter 36 Little Si's Hotel Life!
Upon hearing this, Lu Chen couldn't help but laugh out loud: "Sizi, how old are you? You're already mimicking your older brother and saying you're young! The physical exam is to make you healthier, okay? Let's go together."
Little Sizi tilted her head and thought for a moment, then nodded: "Okay, I'll check with you, Guoguo."
Mom was beaming from ear to ear: "Look how sensible our Sizi is!"
Dad chuckled as he drove, "Tomorrow morning, the whole family will go out first, then to see the flowers, and then have a nice lunch!"
Little Sizi nestled in her mother's arms, her eyes sparkling: "Daddy, Mommy, Zheng is good, and Guoguo is good too."
Lu Chen patted her little head, feeling a warm feeling in his heart.
"Erlang, look how thoughtful Father Lu is. It's truly reassuring that our Sizi has been adopted by such a family." Empress Zhangsun said with great satisfaction.
"That's good, this family is doing well. Zhouzi is blessed," Li Shimin exclaimed.
Lu Chen and his family of four rode in a Buick minivan, slowly driving away from the high-speed rail station.
The atmosphere inside the car was warm and relaxed. Little Sizi nestled in her mother's arms, asking questions curiously.
Mom answered patiently the whole time, her smile never fading.
Lu Chen sat to the side, watching his younger sister's innocent and carefree appearance, and the corners of his mouth unconsciously turned up.
He recalled his parents' discussion about taking Sizi for a medical check-up, and felt both warm and a little apprehensive—although Sizi looked healthy and lively, it was still unknown whether modern medical examinations would be fully applicable to it, given that Sizi came from a thousand years ago.
But then he thought about it again and realized that his parents' thoughtful consideration actually put him at ease.
My dad glanced at the three of them happily sitting in the back seat through the rearview mirror, his eyes full of smiles.
He cleared his throat and said, "The hotel we're staying at tonight is near the botanical garden, which will be convenient for our medical check-up tomorrow. I've already booked a family suite with two bedrooms, so Sizi can sleep in the same one as her mother."
"Wow, Lao Lu! You've really thought of everything!" the childlike mother exclaimed excitedly. "Lao Lu! After all these years of marriage, you've finally been generous!"
"I know you've wanted to go to the botanical garden for a while now. Your little secret is written all over your face. If I were like you, not having to worry about anything, our family would be stuck in a ditch!" Dad said with a deep sense of helplessness. He was the one in charge of everything at home.
"Hmph! Everyone has their own fate. I don't like to worry about it." Mom looked at her long, slender nails and rhinestone-encrusted nails.
Dad let out a sigh of relief: "I was thinking that this child has a special connection with our family, so we should make sure she's comfortable. In the past, I was always treating clients and other people to meals, and I never really thought about how my own family could enjoy themselves. Now that we're older and have the time, let's treat ourselves to something nice."
"Dad! You're right!" Lu Chen chimed in from the side.
"You brat!" Dad said habitually.
"Sizi! Do you think Mommy's fingernails are pretty?" Mommy held out her fingernails to Sizi.
"Great deal! There's some really pretty stuff on this!" Little Sizi's eyes widened. "Mommy, does your hand hurt?"
The little one thought the diamond had pricked his mother's hand, and his heart ached a little.
"Pfft!" Mom couldn't help but laugh. "It doesn't hurt! This diamond is stuck to Mom's hand. You're too small to stick it on properly. When you grow up, Mom will do your nails too."
"Thank you, Mommy~~" Little Sizi happily kicked her little feet.
Dad let out a sigh of relief. "This child is destined to be with our family, so we have to make sure she's comfortable. In the past, I always treated people from outside to meals, and I never thought about taking the family out to enjoy ourselves. Now that I'm older and have the time, it's time for our family to go out and relax."
"Really? Lao Lu? I'm so happy! I've never traveled before!" Mom couldn't believe her ears. When did this pragmatic man have such a romantic side?
"Thank you, Dad," Lu Chen said sincerely.
"Thank you, Daddy~~" Little Sizi repeated again.
"Hmm. Our little Sizi is such a good boy," Dad praised heartily.
"Old Lu, I never imagined we'd have a daughter!"
"Mom, this time you don't have to envy my aunt's family for having two daughters," Lu Chen said with a grin.
"Yes! Now it's your aunt's turn to envy me, having such a beautiful little daughter." Mom glanced at me smugly.
"You're lucky to be lazy, you got such a wonderful daughter for free." Dad casually turned the steering wheel.
At this moment, Lu Chen's family had forgotten that Xiao Sizi was a time traveler, and even more so, that Xiao Sizi was a princess.
After about half an hour's drive, we finally arrived at the hotel.
This is a hotel with a Chinese garden style. The lobby is brightly lit, with artificial hills and flowing water dotting the landscape, and a few green plants appear particularly lush under the warm yellow lights.
When Lu Chen carried Xiao Sizi out of the car, her eyes were immediately drawn to the koi pond in the center of the lobby. "Fish!" she exclaimed excitedly, pointing to the red and white figures swimming on the water.
When checking in, the receptionist saw the adorable little girl and couldn't help but smile as she handed her a small box of candy. "You're such a cute little girl, this is a gift for you."
Little Sizi's eyes lit up as she stared at the candy. She looked up at Lu Chen, and seeing her brother nod, she whispered, "Thank you, sister~~"
Upon entering the suite, Xiao Sizi was captivated by everything in the room—the soft carpet, the bright floor-to-ceiling windows, the bedside lamp with adjustable brightness—each and every one of them amazed her.
Her mother patiently taught her how to use modern amenities, from flush toilets to showerheads, explaining every detail meticulously.
"Mommy, this is just like what Guoguo's family makes!" The little guy reached under the tap and played with the water, laughing.
"Our little one is so smart." Mom patted the little guy's head happily.
Lu Chen was packing the luggage, hanging Si Zi's clothes into the wardrobe one by one.
Seeing the natural love his parents showed for Sizi, his last worry vanished—this family had truly accepted this little princess from the Tang Dynasty.
Finally, Lu Chen read picture books with Xiao Sizi, while his mother took a nap in bed.
The family rested for two hours, and night had already fallen outside.
Dad asked, "What should our family eat?"
Lu Chen thought for a moment and said, "Dad, I see there's a restaurant downstairs in the hotel. Why don't we eat here? It'll save us from having to take Sizi back and forth."
Mom sat up in bed, rubbing her eyes. "Sure, I'm too lazy to move anyway. Lao Lu, does this hotel you book have a restaurant?"
Dad took out his phone and scrolled through it: "I booked a family suite, which includes breakfast. Dinner can be had at the hotel's Chinese restaurant, which I heard has good food."
"Great! Let's go straight to the Chinese restaurant then." Mom made the decision.
Upon hearing the word "eat," Xiao Sizi immediately looked up from her picture book, her eyes sparkling, and asked, "Mommy, is there a good seven drops?"
"Of course!" Mom smiled and pinched her little cheek. "What does our Sizi want to eat?"
"I want to eat youyou!" Little Sizi answered without hesitation, making the whole family burst into laughter.
"Oh!" Lu Chen scratched his head. "Si Zi and I didn't eat lunch!"
"You're still no good at taking care of children," Mom frowned.
"Alright! We'll have some meat for Sisi tonight!" Dad laughed heartily, picking Sisi up in his arms. "Come on, Daddy's taking you to dinner!"
The family left their room, walked through the hotel's elegant corridor, and arrived at the restaurant on the second floor.
The restaurant also continues the Chinese garden style, and through the windows you can see the swaying bamboo shadows in the open-air courtyard.
"Mom, this room looks just like home~~" Little Sizi said, looking at the room with its strong traditional Chinese style.
"Yes, Dad specially chose this hotel. Dad knew Sisi would like it."
"Oh, thank you, Daddy~~" The little guy turned to look at his dad.
"Sizi, don't be so polite, we're all family." Dad smiled slightly, fine wrinkles appearing on his face.
"This child is so polite. Come on, let's eat."
Mom carried the little girl to the high chair.
Little Si looked curiously at the bowls and chopsticks on the table and asked, "Mommy, why don't these bowls have any patterns on them?"
"These are bowls from a modern restaurant; they're simple, elegant, and beautiful," Mom explained patiently.
"Hmm~~" The little brother looked at the food bowl.
When ordering, Dad specially ordered a few specialty dishes: braised pork ribs, steamed sea bass, sweet and sour pork, a plate of seasonal vegetables, and a steamed egg custard for Sizi.
"The steamed egg custard is tender, just right for Sizi." Dad carefully instructed the waiter, "Less salt and less oil, the child is small."
"6
"Don't worry, sir, we'll arrange it." The waiter nodded with a smile.
As the dishes were served one after another, Xiao Sizi scooped up a spoonful of steamed egg custard and mumbled, "It's delicious! Even better than what Guo Guo makes!"
Lu Chen raised an eyebrow, feigning displeasure: "Oh, so you've already outshone me?"
7
"No, no, no—God is the best! God is the best too!" Little Sizi waved her hands anxiously, looking extremely cute.
"Haha, okay, okay, I'm not teasing you anymore. Here, have a piece of pork rib." Lu Chen picked up a piece of braised pork and put it in her bowl.
At that moment, Mom remembered something important.
